People today often lead stressful lives trying to balance many roles, and in doing so tend to neglect their own needs. It is important to take some time out to nourish the soul, as well as achieving your goals and caring for your families. A relaxing aromatherapy massage in a safe environment will help to restore that balance, increasing your ability to cope with life's challenges.

I like to use aromatherapy oils in massage as their therapeutic qualities enhance the massage and give added benfits.  If there is a blend of oils you particularly like, let me know in advance and I will try to have them available.

If you find it difficult to relax, I can incorporate a meditation or Reiki, or both into the massage to help you achieve a state of peace.

Types of Massage

Relaxation:  This is a very gentle, slower form of massage, and is especially useful for those carrying emotional tensions, or who have hectic lifestyles.  The use of essential oils is especially benefical here, as is a careful selection of music. The aim is to slow down the mind, and uplift the spirits, if only for the duration of the massage, but hopefully the benefits will last for a few days at least.

Elderly Folk:  Many of my clients are elderly folk, who have only begun to appreciated the benefits of massage later in life.  Once they overcome their initial apprehensions, they find they thoroughly enjoy the experience, and become hooked.  Most of these clients have never taken the time to pamper themselves when they were younger, being hard working and self sacrificing, and this sort of experience is new to them.  The benefits however are many, not only to the general feeling of well being, but circluation is improved, muscles are stimulated, and some of the aches and pains of age are eased.

Palliative care: A part of my work also involves palliative care patients. Many of these patients are very weak, but even a minimal amount of massage can be very beneficial.  At this time in a persons life, much of the treatment they receive is intrusive and/or painful, and to receive the gentle touch of massage is a welcome relief, both emotionally and physically.  If the patient is bedridden, the muscles can become very weak, and uncomfortable from lying or sitting in a limiited number of positions, and massage can make a big difference to the person's comfort.
